Seed Morphology and anatomy of some Nigerian pulses are reported. Investigations revealed a diversity of seed characteristics for such a small collection of seeds. Although they share common features, the difference amongst them in anatomy has made it possible to generate a key for identification and classification. The seed size ranges from 5-7 x 5 x 3mm in Cajanus cajan to 25 – 30x 18 x 19mm in Canavalia ensiformis.
Thonningia sanguinea Vahl.was observed to develop tyloses internally, as a result of intrusion of the host Hevea brasiliensis into its tissue. The tissues were also squeezed and xylem cells split off into strands. At the point of contact between T. sanguinea. And the host plant, enlarged tissues (galls) developed. Ecologically, the plant is
hazardous to rubber as it dominates the plantation floor.
