History

Soil science department was recently carved out of the department of crops and soils in 1996 which has existed since 1991/92 as a single Department.

Aims and Objectives

• To produce graduates who will be useful to themselves, the public and the private sector;
• To produce postgraduate students whose knowledge and practical experience can compare with such students produced in similar institutions within and outside Nigeria
• To attract Researchers and Consultants from Universities inside and outside Nigeria for the purpose of exchanging knowledge, scholarship and experience
• To be a consulting centre for all agencies that have anything to do with Soil and Environmental Studies.
