Professor Osubor graduated with B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Biochemistry, both from University of Benin, Benin City in 1984 and 1987 respectively. In 1991, he 0btained his Ph.D in Biochemical Toxicology. He teaches at the Department of Biochemistry, Centre of Excellence in Geosciences/Petroluem Engineering and Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement Centre of Excellence (SPESSE-CE) in the University. Prof. Osubor is an erudite scholar, researcher and has been a Professor for over twenty two years. He was a visiting scientist to University of Jena, Jena, Germany; also trained in Industrial Biotechnology at Gesellschaft fur Biotechnologische Forschung mbH (GBF), Braunschweig, Germany. The eminent scholar has attended several conferences both local and international where he presented papers in his area of expertise. Prof. Osubor has held several administrative positions in the University system. He has served in several University Committees and Boards and as External Examiner/Assessor/Moderator in some Nigerian tertiary institutions. He was first appointed as Assistant Dean of the defunct Faculty of Science (UNIBEN). During his Sabbatical in 2005/2006 academic session at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, he was appointed Head of Biochemistry Department. He served as Coordinator of the B.Sc Environmental Science and Diploma, Food and Brewing Science programmes for several years in the Faculty of Science of this University. He served at different times as Dean in Faculty of Life Sciences, University of Benin, Benin City and College of Science, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun. He is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration of University of Benin, Benin City. Prof Osubor is an environmentalist par excellence. He has taken part in Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies and also served on different occasions as panel Chairman / Member of EIA Review Meetings by the Federal Ministry of Environment. He is also a Public Analyst and Consultant to some local companies on quality control and environmental issues. In 2016, he got placement in Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPPC), Port Harcourt as Senior Research Advisor to support the Ogoni Restoration Project (ORP) for one year. During the period, he acquired a lot of industrial / field experience on bioremediation of crude oil polluted sites. Prof. Osubor has published a book and several peer reviewed articles in high impact journals. He is a Fellow of Society of Experimental Biology of Nigeria (NISEB) and Editor-in-Chief of NISEB Journal. He is also a member of editorial board of many journals. During his tenure as the Dean of Life Sciences (UNIBEN), he founded the Nigerian Journal of Life Sciences. Prof. Osubor is married to Prof. (Mrs) Veronica Osubor and they are blessed with children.
