Academic and Professional Background

Professor Aba is a renowned academic and seasoned professional in Library and Information Science. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Library Science (BA.LS) and Master of Library Science (MLS) from Bayero University, Kano, and later obtained an MBA from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. She completed her Ph.D. in Library and Information Science in 2013 from University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Additionally, she holds a National Certificate in Education (NCE) and Certificate in Computer Science. She is a registered member of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Librarians Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN) and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

Prior to her appointment at the University of Benin, Professor Aba served as the Head of Department of Library and Information Science and as a University Librarian at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, where she led transformational initiatives from 2016 to 2021. Her extensive experience in academic librarianship, strategic library management and commitment to advancing library services will be invaluable as she leads the John Harris Library into its next phase of development.

Research and Scholarly Contributions

Professor Aba has significantly contributed to research and scholarship in Library and Information Science, authoring and co-authoring numerous publications addressing critical issues in information-seeking behaviour, digital technology integration and social media influence on academic libraries.

Hence, her leadership and academic record continue to strengthen the role of libraries in higher education, making her an asset to both the university and the profession at large.
